The News & Observer / Tazza Kitchen to open in Cary’s Stone Creek Village

The owners of Cafe Caturra in Cary’s Stone Creek Village have closed the wine bar and plan to open the Triangle’s second Tazza Kitchen in its place. The first, in Raleigh’s Cameron Village, was also a conversion of a space that had previously been a Cafe Caturra. Offering a menu inspired by the rustic outdoors cooking of southern Italy and Baja California, Tazza Kitchen is a small upscale-casual chain with four other locations in Virginia and South Carolina.

“Tazza Kitchen has done really well at Cameron,” says Jeff Grant, one of the owners. “We think it will also be a good fit for Cary.”

Construction is set to begin in the next two or three weeks, with a target opening by mid-spring. A focal point of the new dining room will be a massive wood-fired brick oven that turns out a wide variety of dishes, from Neapolitan style pizzas to jumbo lump crab cakes. A full bar will offer an eclectic wine list, rotating local beers on tap, and a selection of classic and house specialty cocktails.
